Jojoba Vegetable Oil – Simmondsia Chinensis Oil
Cold-pressed · Unfiltered · From organic farming · 100% Pure
It’s not an oil. It’s a liquid wax.
Jojoba is one of the most extraordinary ingredients nature has provided for skin care — and the reason is simple: technically, it is not an oil but a liquid wax. This distinction is not just chemical: it is what makes it incomparably stable, light, and compatible with human skin.
A desert plant with millennia of history
Simmondsia chinensis grows wild in the deserts of Mexico and the American Southwest. The native O'odham and Apache peoples have used it for centuries: the seeds were pressed to obtain a protective ointment against the sun, heat, and desert wind. They used it to soften the skin, protect hair, and soothe irritations.
In the 20th century, when whale hunting was banned and spermaceti oil (used in cosmetics and lubricants) became illegal, the industry realized that jojoba oil was the perfect natural substitute — with similar properties but plant-based and fully renewable. Since then, jojoba has become one of the most sought-after cosmetic ingredients worldwide.
Why the skin loves it: the properties
Hydration without clogging The liquid wax structure mimics natural skin sebum. It absorbs quickly, leaves the skin soft without a greasy feel, and does not clog pores. Also suitable for oily and combination skin.
Emollient and nourishing effect Rich in eicosenoic acid and erucic acid, it helps nourish the skin’s hydrolipidic film and reduce transepidermal water loss, helping the skin stay elastic over time.
Natural antioxidant properties Contains vitamin E (tocopherols) in its natural form, which helps protect skin cells from oxidative stress, promoting skin that looks radiant and firm.
Soothing and calming action Thanks to its composition, it is particularly suitable for sensitive, reddened, and dry-prone skin. Suitable after shaving, sun exposure, or adverse weather conditions.
Exceptional stability Unlike many vegetable oils, Jojoba does not easily go rancid. Its wax structure makes it naturally resistant to oxidation, with a shelf life much longer than other vegetable oils.
Sun, sea, and tanning
Traditionally used to prepare the skin for sun exposure, it helps keep it hydrated and soft, promoting an even and long-lasting complexion.
⚠️ Does not contain sunscreen filters and does not protect against UV radiation. For sun exposure, use products with appropriate SPF.
