Sweet Almond Vegetable Oil – Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil

Cold-pressed · From organic farming · 100% Pure

Sweet, light, as ancient as beauty itself.

There are ingredients that withstand time not because they are trendy, but because they work. Sweet Almond Oil is one of them. Used for millennia throughout the Mediterranean basin and the East as a remedy for dry skin, as a base for massages, and as an ingredient in the most refined cosmetic preparations, it remains one of the most appreciated vegetable oils today — for its lightness, versatility, and extraordinary compatibility with every skin type.

From the Mediterranean to the East: a three-thousand-year history

The almond — Prunus amygdalus — is native to Central Asia and the Middle East, but it found its true home in the Mediterranean basin. Cultivated in Greece, Italy, Spain, and North Africa for over three thousand years, it was considered by the ancient Romans and Greeks a precious food and a first-rate medical remedy.

In Ayurvedic medicine, sweet almond oil is traditionally used as an emollient for dry skin and as a massage oil. In ancient Egypt, it was one of the most sought-after ingredients for preparing ointments and cosmetics. In medieval European traditions, it appeared in pharmacopoeias as a soothing agent for irritated and chapped skin.

It’s no coincidence that it’s still here, intact in its simplicity.

Why the skin loves it: the properties

Deep emollient and long-lasting hydration
Rich in oleic acid (omega-9) and linoleic acid (omega-6), it helps nourish the skin’s hydrolipidic film, supports the skin’s protective barrier, and reduces transepidermal water loss. The skin appears softer, more elastic, and radiant.

Light texture and fast absorption
Despite its nourishing properties, it absorbs quickly without leaving greasy residues. Suitable both as an intensive evening treatment and as a daily massage oil.

Universal compatibility — even for the most sensitive skin
It is one of the vegetable oils with the widest tolerance profile. Its gentle composition makes it suitable for sensitive, reactive, dry, and normal skin, including the skin of children and pregnant women for treating areas prone to skin stress.

Soothing and calming action
Helps soothe red, irritated, and dry skin. Especially recommended after shaving, sun exposure, or during winter months when the skin is more vulnerable to environmental factors.

Natural Vitamin E
Contains naturally occurring tocopherols, which help protect the skin from oxidative stress, promoting skin that looks radiant and firm over time.

Hair and scalp

When applied to hair, Sweet Almond Oil:

  • Nourishes and softens lengths without weighing them down
  • Helps tame dry and frizzy ends, adding shine
  • Helps make hair easier to comb and less prone to breakage
  • Helps nourish dry scalp, promoting scalp comfort
  • Particularly suitable for fine, fragile, and treated hair

How to use it

Face: Pour 2–3 drops into the palm, warm between hands, and apply to clean skin with upward movements. Ideal as a nourishing evening treatment or as a base before makeup for drier skin types.

Body: Apply on damp skin after showering to promote absorption. Focus on elbows, knees, heels, and belly — an ideal area during pregnancy to keep skin elastic and hydrated.

Hair — pre-shampoo mask: Apply to lengths and ends, leave on for 20–30 minutes or overnight, then wash as usual. Alternatively, a few drops on dry ends as a light finishing serum.

Lips and cuticles: Apply a small amount for a quick nourishing action on the driest and chapped areas.

Massage: The classic base oil par excellence — ideal pure or enriched with essential oils. Its light texture and gradual absorption make it perfect for relaxing and draining massages.

Beauty bath: Add a few tablespoons to bath water for a soothing effect on the whole body.

In DIY cosmetics: A versatile and precious ingredient for creams, serums, balms, hair masks, and natural soaps. It is the most used base in handmade cosmetics for its neutrality and softness.

Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Keep out of reach of children. Caution if allergic to almonds or tree nuts.
