Palo Santo ("Bursera Graveolens"), known in Spanish as “sacred wood,” is a 100% pure natural essential oil obtained from the wood of Bursera graveolens, belonging to the Burseraceae family. This tree mainly grows in Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and some areas of Brazil, reaching about 20 meters in height. The trunk is rich in branches, the bark is grayish-white, and it produces shiny leaves and green fruits.
The essential oil is extracted exclusively from wood that has naturally fallen and been left to dry for 5–10 years, without harming nature. During this time, the wood develops its unique aromatic and therapeutic properties that it did not previously possess.
Traditionally, Palo Santo has been used in religious rituals to connect with the gods and purify sacred places. Its essence, called “holy,” is considered a symbol of good luck, used to ward off negativity, bring fortune, and purify home and spirit.

Usage and precautions

Technical note
To obtain 1 ml of Palo Santo essential oil, about 50–100 g of naturally dried wood are needed, ensuring an intense, balsamic, and sweet aroma.
